A distribution center as a landscape object

Due to an increase in activities, the heating company Winterwarm in Winterswijk had outgrown its premises a few years ago and therefore decided to build new business premises. This is necessary in order to continue to grow, work more efficiently, and improve internal communication.

The architecture combines modern industrial design with rounded shapes and natural materials such as Corten steel and wood, allowing the building to blend into the green, rural surroundings. A welcoming area has been designed at the entrance, featuring a pond for water retention and an adjoining terrace so that visitors and employees can enjoy the surroundings outdoors.

The use of a steel skeleton construction with a span of 15 meters gives the building flexibility for the future. The spacious, efficient layout provides an integrated workplace for production, offices, and showroom under one roof and the fold.

The new sustainable commercial building for Winterwarm is located in the middle of green surroundings on the outskirts of Winterswijk. The building facilitates the company's enormous growth and also offers a more efficient production facility and communication by bringing all production lines together under one roof.

The end result is a building with a BREEAM certificate rating of “outstanding,” the highest score achievable. Thanks to energy-efficient installations and 1,850 solar panels, the building is energy neutral!
